Nanya Technology plans to discontinue its rights to take delivery of PC DRAM chips from Inotera Memories, while allowing Micron Technology to handle sales of all DRAM chips rolled out from Inotera, according to industry sources.
Nanya's parent company Formosa Plastics Corporation (FPC) is expected to reach a deal with Micron soon, allowing Nanya to stop taking PC DRAM from Inotera from the first half of 2013, while accelerating its migration to the niche memory market, the sources noted.
However, FPC may also negotiate to increase its stake in Inotera when the DRAM chipmaker launches a private placement scheduled in 2013, the sources revealed.
Micron and FPC currently hold 40% and 26% stakes, respectively, in Inotera.
FPC would like to ramp its share in Inotera to 35%, or the same level as Micron when the private placement is completed, the sources added. |
