USB device controller supplier VIA Labs has received USB-IF (USB Implementers Forum) certification for its VL811 and VL812 USB 3.0 hub controller ICs, according to industry sources.

VIA Labs will announce the launch of its USB-IF certified hub controllers at the 2013 International CES (Consumer Electronics Show) to be held in Las Vegas in early January, the sources indicated.

ASMedia Technology and Genesys Logic will be the next Taiwan-based companies obtaining USB-IF certification for their USB 3.0 hub controllers, the sources indicated.

Renesas Electronics' USB 3.0 hub controller series already passed USB 3.0 compliance and certification testing by the USB-IF, the Japan-based vendor announced earlier in December 2012.

With the new Intel processors coming with native support of USB 3.0, USB controller suppliers including Renesas have turned their focus to products for peripherals including hubs, flash drives and external HDDs, according to several previous reports.
