Taiwan-based memory module maker Power Quotient International (PQI) will adjust its non-operating investment framework by establishing two wholly-owned subsidiary holding companies, PQI Mobility and ApiX Limited.
PQI Mobility will hold a 100% stake in Power Quotient International (Suzhou), the parent company's subsidiary in eastern China, while ApiX will wholly own Hong Kong-based Design Group Company, which operates the DG Lifestyle retail chain selling Apple products in Hong Kong and Macau, PQI indicated. PQI acquired a 100% stake in Design Group in late March 2012, the company indicated.
PQI is looking to acquire other Apple product retail chains in the Southeast Asia market through ApiX, market observers have said.
PQI has also decided to completely shift NAND flash pen drive production from USB 2.0 to USB 3.0 because the company expects USB 3.0 penetration in pen drives to rise to 70% by the end of 2013. PQI will begin phasing out standard DRAM module production in first-quarter 2013.
