Despite fierce competitions within the notebook and the tablet markets, netbook and tablet products are currently still seeing good demand in the education segment, especially Intel's Classmate PC and Studybook products, which have a higher gross margin than standard PC products and can assist their upstream suppliers to achieve profit, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.
Intel has already shipped more than 10 million Classmate PCs since the launch of the device and is expected to ship 3-4 million StudyBook tablets in 2013. Intel's Classmate PC orders are mostly from emerging markets such as China, Turkey, Thailand and India as well as countries in Eastern Europe and Latin America. |
