King Yuan Electronics Company (KYEC) expects its testing lines for LCD driver ICs and CMOS image sensors to continue booming in the first half of 2013, particularly for CMOS image sensor lines, which enjoyed a 200% grow in revenues in 2012, according to the company.
KYEC began delivering related CMOS sensor products to clients in the US in the third quarter of 2012, contributing to strong sales growth in the segment in the year, the company noted, adding that CMOS sensor orders will return early in the second quarter.
Meanwhile, industry watchers have also pointed out that KYEC is expected to land CMOS sensor orders from Japan-based IDMs in the second half of 2013.
KYEC will also see demand for its LCD driver IC testing services continue to grow in light of the growing popularity of high-profile smartphones and smart TVs, added the industry watchers.
Testing of high-end LCD driver ICs generates high yields for testing firms due to limited capacity in the market, said the sources, adding that currently only KYEC and fellow companies Chipbond Technology and ChipMOS Technologies are capable of handling tests for high-end driver ICs. |
