Due to weak global demand for notebooks, most Taiwan-based notebook component makers expect their revenues for the first quarter of 2013 to decrease sequentially by 5-10%. But their revenues will rise in the second quarter, according to industry observers.
As Windows 8 has yet to see significant demand and consumers are likely to wait for Intel's upcoming 8 series chipsets and Microsoft's Windows Blue - which will show up later this year - the observers believe the component makers' second-quarter revenues are unlikely to see growth as strong as that in previous years.
Currently, brand vendors and ODMs still have positive forecasts for their second-quarter orders, but actual shipments may still vary in line with market conditions.
