Asustek Computer on March 20 announced the offering of Fonepad, a 7-inch tablet with 3G voice communications function, for pre-order in the Taiwan market at a retail price of NT$8,990 (US$302).

Fonepad features Intel's Atom Z2420 1.2GHz processor, a 1280 by 800 ISP touch screen, 1GB RAM, 8GB memory, a 1.2-megapixel front camera and a 3.0-megapixel rear camera and a weight of 340g.

In addition, Asustek has cooperated with Chunghwa Telecom to sell Fonepad bundled with a 2-year contract at a purchase price of NT$990 with monthly payments of NT$850 or free with a NT$1,343 a month contract.
