Macronix International Company (MXIC) is set to raise prices for NOR flash memory as supply of the chip will remain tight in the second quarter due to strong demand coming from PC and consumer electronics applications, according to company president Chih-Yuan Lu.
Winbond Electronics reportedly also plans to slightly increase prices for NOR flash memory.
Macronix saw revenues for the first two months of 2010 amount to NT$4.32 billion, up 38.9% on year. The company estimated first-quarter revenues at NT$6.1-6.3 billion.
Winbond has not provided its revenue guidance for the first quarter, but said it expects to see sequential sales growth for the NOR flash business. Winbond's accumulated revenues through February totaled NT$4.57 billion, a 123.8% jump from 2009.
