Clevo aims to ship two million notebooks in 2013, growing 11.1% form 2012 and with regional channels in emerging markets to be major clients, the company said at a March 28 investors conference.
Clevo has been operating an IT and consumer electronics retail chain in China, Buynow, for 10 years, and is expanding the chain, the company indicated. Currently, there are 23 Buynow stores around China, six in construction of which three will come into operation in 2013, and seven more are in planning, Clevo said. The 23 stores have a total floor area of 471,000 square meters. In addition, Clevo has invested a 30% stake in the Chicony Department Store established by Taiwan-based Chicony Electronics in China. Chicony has two chain stores currently, one in western China and the other in the central region.
Clevo recorded consolidated revenues of NT$18.19 billion (U$616 million), net profit of NT$1.31 billion and net EPS of NT$2.20 for 2012 and will distribute a cash dividend of NT$2, the company said. Operations of Buynow accounted for 50-60% of 2012 net profits and notebook ODM business 20-30%, Clevo indicated.
