Microsoft on April 2 launched Surface specifically pre-installed with Chinese-language versions of Windows 8 and 2013 Office in the China market at a retail price of CNY6,588 (US$1,060) for a 64GB model and CNY7,388 for 128GB, according to China-based tech.163.com.

In addition to the tablets, a Touch Cover is for sale at CNY908 and a Type Cover at CNY988, the report indicated.

Microsoft launched Surface RT in the China market in October 2012, with about 30,000 units shipped in the fourth quarter based on IDC surveys, the report noted.
