HTC reportedly has placed short lead-time orders for related IC parts enough for production of an additional several million units of its new HTC One flagship model, according to industry sources.
The additional purchases of IC parts indicates that the issue of a shortage of some key parts that had slowed the production of the new HTC One previously has been solved, said the sources.
Thanks to the availability of parts and components and a low base in the first quarter of 2013, HTC is expected to see its smartphone shipments soar over 50% sequentially in the second quarter, the sources estimated.
A rebound in shipments at HTC will also help local IC design houses and other component suppliers sustain sales gains in the second quarter, the sources added. |
