We have been hearing rumours that Samsung is working on two new tablets that should be introduced any day now. Those two new tablets are the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 and the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0. The specifications of the third generation Galaxy Tab have just surfaced, revealing some intriguing information.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 will come with an 8-inch display, and not with the earlier reported 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution. Instead, the new rumours point to a resolution of just 1280 x 800 pixels. The tablet will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and will be powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor with 2 GB of RAM.
It features 16 GB of internal memory and comes with connectivity options such as Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, HSPA or LTE and a standard microUSB port. There will be two cameras, a 3-megapixel rear-facing and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing snapper. Even though the device sports a 4,500 mAh battery, the tablet will be impressively slim at 6.95 mm and will weigh 330 g.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1
The bigger brother comes with very similar specifications. The 10.1-inch display comes with the same resolution which should result in a pixel density of 149 pixels-per-inch while under the hood, we have the same 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, but only 1 GB of RAM.
Connectivity options and cameras are the same, a 1.3-megapixel front-facer and a 3-megapixel rear-facing primary. The 16 GB of onboard memory will be expandable via the microSD slot. The only enhancements over the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is the battery, which is a 7,000 mAh unit. The device will be .7 mm thick and weighs 533 g, due to larger battery.
The 3G versions are rumoured to come to the market in May while the 4G versions of the Galaxy Tab 3 tablets will go on sale in late June or even in July. At the moment, there is no information about the price.
