Asustek Computer will launch a new line of SSDs based on the PCI Express 2.0 interface and made from MLC flash supplied by Toshiba, in May 2013 under the ROG (Republic of Gamers) Raidr Express own-brand.
Through releasing its own-brand SSDs, Asustek is hoping to promote its ROG branded products including motherboards and accessories, for better compatibility and product consistency, helping to maintain its leadership in the high-end PC retail channel, according to sources from SSD players.
However, some SSD players believe that Asustek's purpose is meant to raise its flexibility and price negotiating ability over the SSD purchasing since SSD pricing has been suffering from significant fluctuations recently.
The Raidr Express series features a built-in AHCI driver and supports both legacy and UEFI BIOS systems. The storage also features Asustek's SSD TweakIt and ROG HybriDisk technologies to enhance longevity and performance. |
