Four Taiwan-based notebook ODMs, Quanta Computer, Compal Electronics, Wistron and Inventec, have indicated that their factories in Chongqing and Chengdu, western China, were not affected by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake which struck nearby on April 20.
Quanta plans to complete moving a large portion of its notebook production capacity from eastern China to Chongqing in 2014-2015.
Compal's factory in Chengdu currently has a monthly production capacity of more than 500,000 notebooks and capacity will be expanded.
Wistron has set up factories in Chongqing and in Chengdu.
Inventec has reached full utilization of the notebook production capacity at its factory in Chongqing and will be expanding beginning the second half of 2013, with the factory to be responsible for 90% of all orders in 2014 and 100% in 2015. |
