IC backend service company King Yuan Electronics (KYEC) is expected to see its revenues for the second quarter of 2013 grow 10-15% over the NT$3.38 billion (US$113.44 million) recorded in the first quarter thanks to orders from MediaTek, according to industry sources.
MediaTek is estimated to be able to ramp up its revenues by over 20% sequentially in the second quarter, and therefore it is demanding more testing services for baseband and RF chips, indicated the sources.
Meanwhile, testing orders for LCD driver ICs have also remained brisk due to strong sales of smartphones and tablets in China, the sources noted.
KYEC's two testing subsidiaries in China, which offer wafer probing services and backend services for IC substrates, consumer and logic ICs, have begun generating profits, indicating growing demand in China, revealed the sources. |
