About 30% of handsets shipped in the China market during the second quarter of 2013 are expected to have panels sized 4.5-inch and above, according to market observers.
The proportion of handsets shipped in China equipped with 4.5- to 5-inch screens in the previous quarter was 14.2% while handsets with screens sized above 5-inch made up 6.1% for a combined proportion of over 20%. That percentage is expected to climb to around 30% in the second quarter while the proportion of handsets with 3.5-inch and below sizes screens is expected to decrease, the observers said.
The observers noted the percentage proportion for the 3.5-inch and below size handsets has already dropped from 37.2% in the fourth quarter of 2012 to 33.7% in the first quarter of 2013.
Additionally, about 75.86 million smartphones were shipped in China during the first quarter of 2013 and that number is expected to increase to 78 million units in the following quarter, the observers added.
The observers also said that of the smartphone shipments in the second quarter, about 15% will have 300ppi while around 7% are expected to have 441ppi. |
