German chip company Infineon has asked the US International Trade Commission (ITC) to investigate a number of companies that it alleges have breached its patents on DRAM. And the ITC said it will institute an investigation yesterday.
Infineon complained to the ITC in mid February, alleging elements of the Tariff Act of 1930 were breached. Infineon wants the ITC to issue an exclusion order and a cease and desist order.
The respondents are Elpida, Rexchip, Kingston Technology, Payton Technology, A-Data, Apacer, Buffalo, Corsair, Mushkin and Transcend.
The ITC said it hasn't yet made a decision on whether there's been a violation of Section 336 of the Tariff Act.
In other news, the ITC cleared Taiwanese memory company Nanya and Powerchip Semiconductor of a charge that they had breached LSI's intellectual property rights.
