Elite Semiconductor Memory Technology (ESMT), a Taiwan-based provider of niche-market memory chips, has entered the MCP (multi chip package) chip segment and will begin to ship its MCP solutions to MediaTek in June, according to industry sources.
ESMT's MCP solutions for MediaTek will come with a memory configuration of 2Gb NAND flash plus 1Gb mobile RAM for entry-level smartphone applications, the sources added.
For production of the MCP devices, ESMT has secured the supply of NAND flash chips from Powerchip Technology as well as mobile RAM chips from Elpida Memory, the sources revealed.
