MediaTek is expected to see its revenues drop to below NT$10 billion (US$334.97 million) in May compared to a three-year high of NT$12.57 billion recorded in April, as most IC clients in China suspended operations during the first week of May, according to industry sources.
MediaTek's sales outlook for June is also conservative as clients will work intensively to digest their inventories prior to MediaTek's planned launch of its new dual-core MT6572 and quad-core MT6582 smartphone solutions in the third quarter of 2013, said the sources.
However, sources at MediaTek said that the company's forecast of a 25-32% sequential gain in its revenues to NT$30-31.6 billion (US$998.93-1,052.21 million) for the second quarter of 2013 remains unchanged despite a possible setback in May.
MediaTek also expects its revenues to continue moving upward in the third quarter due to peak-season effects, but the growth rate would be more moderate after a projected jump of close to 30% in the previous quarter. |
