Remember when Microsoft lowered the minimum screen resolution requirements for Windows 8 from 1366 x 768 to 1024 x 600? It was so devices like the Acer Iconia W3 could take shape. Pictured above, the device is the first 8-inch tablet running Windows 8, and the first device to put its desktop onto a device that can be held and operated singlehandedly.
The 8-inch screen of the Iconia W3 features a 1280 x 800 pixels resolution. Under its hood is an Intel Atom Z2760 dual-core processor, with 1.80 GHz clock speed, HyperThreading, and Intel HD graphics. Interestingly, while the chip features a dual-channel LPDDR2 memory controller, it maxes out at 2 GB, so Acer deployed only the 32-bit version of Windows 8 on the device. The device offers 32 GB and 64 GB storage options.
On the connectivity front, the Iconia W3 offers a micro-HDMI display output which supports full-HD display, a micro-USB 2.0 port, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, front and rear facing 2-megapixel webcams. Office Home and Student 2010 comes pre-installed. Acer didn't announce pricing.
