China-based Nufront, a developer of ARM-based SoCs, has rolled out quad-core solutions for mobile phones and tablets with shipments slated for the fourth quarter of 2013 at the earliest, according to the company.
Nufront is currently highlighting its SoC solution, the Telink7689, at Computex Taipei 2013. The Telink7689 is ideal for smartphones below 5-inch sizes as well as for 7-inch tablets or large-size tablets, according to a representative of the chipset vendor participating at Computex.
Nufront will begin shipping samples of the Telink7689 chips to clients in July, said the representative.
Nufront will manufacture the single-chip solution at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) using a 40nm process, revealed the representative.
