China-based Shanda Group plans to release its next-generation Bambook smartphone on June 17 in China. The new model will be powered by a MediaTek MT6589 quad-core processor, according to industry sources.
The new Bambook model will also come with a 5-inch Full HD touchscreen and 13-megapixel rear camera, the sources noted.
While shifting the chipset supplier to MediaTek for the new Bambook instead of ST-Ericsson, which offered smartphone solutions for Shanda's first-generation Bambook S1, Shanda will continue to outsource production the Foxconn Group, revealed the sources.
To pave the way for the launch of the new model, Shanda has lowered the price of its 8GB Bambook S1 to CNY499 (US$81.3) from the previous CNY1,199.
In addition to the new Bambook smartphone, Shanda also plans to release a 1.5-inch smart watch in mid-June, the sources added. |
