If you wander over to the Microsoft Store, you will see a few new price incentives for the Surface RT tablets. Microsoft has dropped the price on all flavors of the tablet by a massive 30 percent. Trying to drum up interest or perhaps trying to clear inventory.
Microsoft has slashed the 32 GB version from $499 to $349, and the 64 GB version has been dropped down to $449 from its initial price of $599. The cost of the tablets with touch covers have also been reduced from $599 to $449 (32 GB version) and $699 to $549 (64 GB Version).
Microsoft has been offering lots of incentives over the last few months which have included giving away free touch covers with purchases and giving away tablets or greatly reducing prices for educational organizations.
While it may be looked at as Microsoft trying to drum up interest in the devices, it was hinted at last week at the Worldwide Partner Conference that a new version was being worked on and it's possible that Microsoft is just trying to clear inventory to be ready for the next release. |
