Panasonic unveiled what could be the holy grail of DSLR-like point-and-shooters, the Lumix DMC-FZ70. Armed with a F/2.8-5.9 telephoto lens that gives you a view range from 20 mm wide-angle to 1,200 mm (60X) optical zoom; the FZ70 is equally ideal for low-light and long-zoom photography. The lens is backed by power optical image stabilization (Power-OIS). In concert with digital-zoom, the camera can belt out up to 120X zoom.
The FZ70's optics are backed by a 16.1-megapixel CMOS sensor that can capture images in bursts of 9 fps at full resolution, and capture video at 1080/60i. The camera's in-built stereo microphones are backed by various post-processing layers, including Dolby Digital. The fun doesn't end with the stock 60X lens, its lens adapter supports tele-conversion lenses such as the DMW-LT55, close-up filters, neutral and polarizer filters, and external flashes. Panasonic didn't reveal pricing or availability.
