MediaTek plans to begin volume production of three new chips in the third quarter of 2013 - the MT6572 and MT6582 for smartphones and the MT8135 for tablets, according to industry sources.

　　The MT6572 is designated for the entry-level smartphones, while the MT6582 is a dual-mode, quad-core solution supporting TD-SCDMA and WCDMA technologies, said the sources.

　　Powered by the release of the three new chips, MediaTek's sales performance for the third quarter of 2013 would be better than its expectations, which are rather conservative, commented the sources.
