Acer has slashed the price of their byte-sized Iconia W3 Windows 8 tablet to an affordable $299, making it the cheapest tablet in the market that runs the full x86 version of Microsoft's Windows 8 OS. The Iconia W3 was the first small-sized Windows 8 tablet ever to hit the market. Its 32 GB base model was launched two months ago for $380. The 8-inch tablet was turned down by the community for a lackluster product design and horrible display, but they might be slightly more forgiving once the new price cut in effect. Acer picked Intel's previous generation Atom SoC to power the Iconia W3.
