TVs sized 46-inch and above are expected to see 80% on-year growth in the Taiwan market during 2013, according to research firm GFK.
Additionally, the firm said about 18% of TVs sold in Taiwan during the first half of 2013 were sized 46-inch and above, up from 9% in the first half of 2012
The increase in larger-size TV sales in 2013 in the Taiwan market comes as vendors have dropped pricing for 50- and 60-inch units to that of units in the 46-inch segment, GFK added.
TV vendors expect TV sales in the Taiwan market to remain flat in 2013 and are trying to stay competitive by selling larger and cheaper units, noted market observers. |
