Taiwan-based vendor Asustek Computer saw consolidated revenues, net operating profit and net profit for the second quarter of 2013 slip on quarter and on year due to decreased shipments of notebooks and tablets, the company said at an investors conference on August 9.
Notebooks and notebook/tablet hybrid (convertible) models accounted for 60% of second-quarter consolidated revenues of NT$89.663 billion (US$3.00 billion), Eee Pad (tablets) for 14%, motherboards and graphics cards for 14% and other product lines for 12%, Asustek indicated. The Asia Pacific region accounted for 48% of the revenues, followed by Europe with 29% and North America with 23%, Asustek said.
Asustek, Intel and Microsoft will jointly unveil new products in the US in mid-September, Asustek revealed.
In view of weak global demand, Asustek has downward adjusted its 2013 target shipments for notebooks and notebook/tablet hybrids from 24 million units originally to 17-19 million units.
