In a move to ensure a sufficient supply of DRAM and maintain price stability, Asustek Computer has teamed up with Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) to form a joint venture to target the DRAM module market, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.
The joint venture, named Asint, will mainly source DRAM chips from Elpida Memory, according to the paper.
According to the paper Asustek hold a 60% stake in the joint venture, with SiS taking up the remainder, however, both companies have come out to refute the figures.
SiS clarified it is not the source of the report, and said it owns a 20% stake in Asint, which was formerly its memory-module division.
Asustek issued a filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) saying it holds a 16.67% stake in Asint, not 60% as claimed by the paper.
