A new report reveals that the first four million units of the Galaxy Note III, Samsung's upcoming phablet flagship, will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core SoC humming at its heart, while only 20-30% of future devices will pack the new Exynos 5420 Octa chipset. While the numbers are slightly better this time for the Exynos variant (it was found to be just 10% for the Galaxy S4), Samsung still hasn't gotten all its issues behind it when it comes to producing the complex ARM big.LITTLE configuration based Exynos 5420 Octa SoC on the company's 32nm manufacturing process. Why else would they hold back on the Exynos variant (except for those regions with 4G bands that aren't supported by the Exynos 5420 chipset). One thing is for sure, US citizens will be getting the Snapdragon 800 powered Galaxy Note III. |
