Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy NX Camera, a high-end DSLR based on the Samsung NX300. The report says that the camera will go on sale in October for a hefty price tag, to the tune of $1599, that is without any lens (only the body). For the standard 18-55mm lens, the total package would cost you $1699 (whistles).
The Galaxy NX camera sports a 20.3 megapixel APS-C sensor, 1/6000 sec shutter speed, 8.6FPS shooting, DRIMe IV Image Signal Processor, a 4.8-inch HD (1280 x 720) touchscreen display (just like the one on the Galaxy S III), a 1.6 GHz quad-core Exynos 4 SoC, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage with a micro SD card that can expand storage by up to an additional 64 GB, a large 4,360 mAh battery and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. There will be both WiFi-only and 4G LTE models of the device, meaning that this camera can serve more purposes than just shooting images. But at the end of the day, it all boils down to the extremely high price tag, and whether it is worth spending that much on the product.
