LG has officially unveiled their second ever attempt at Android tablets, after a not-so-exciting experience with their first attempt, the Optimus Pad. Say hello to this new Android-powered iPad Mini rival, the LG G Pad 8.3-inch tablet is here to win your hearts (and bills).
With a design that is very much inspired by their recently announced flagship LG G2, the G Pad is powered by a 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 SoC, packs 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, 5 MP rear and 1.3 MP front cameras, weights an impressively low 338 grams and packs a 4,600 mAh battery. Talking about the display, LG has furnished the tablet with a high-resolution WUXGA (1920 x 1200) panel, much higher than what can be found on the Apple iPad Mini. Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean runs out of the box.
Here's the big bummer at the end. The G Pad can be yours, but not right away. You can lay your hands on LG's new tablet starting Q4 2013 in many regions including North America, Europe and Asia. No word on pricing, but expect it to be in the $300-$500 range.
