It's hard to survive in a market that is completely dominated by one company, or two in this case. Windows Phone (8) is a budding platform, but with Nokia owning more than three-fourth's of the market share, and Microsoft now in charge of the company, it's difficult at best for another outsider company, Huawei in this case, to make a name for itself. OEMs like HTC and Samsung, and many other companies as a matter of fact, have almost completely stopped developing for Windows Phone, with some rumors that talk of a revival of interest thanks to Redmond's upcoming WP8 GDR3 update, which will allow WP8 Smartphones to compete with its Android counterparts.
We will continue to develop devices running Windows Phone, and launch more products. We remain one of Microsoft's strategic partners. - Huawei
Anyway, back to Huawei. The Chinese company and one of the largest Smartphone sellers in the world, has reaffirmed its commitment to the Windows Phone platform. Sadly, that's all we know for now. Although, deep in our hearts, we all want to see a 6-inch Huawei Ascend Mate with WP8 inside. Maybe that'll happen, but not in the immediate future. Perhaps before the end of 2013? Who knows. |
