Nokia announced the Nokia 108 and 108 Dual-SIM, two of the cheapest camera-phones ever sold by the company. Equipped with bare-minimum features, and VGA cameras, the duo could help phase out camera-free phones from the market. Oh, the price? Your lunch. It's priced at $29.
"We continue to connect millions of people, including those for whom mobile phone ownership was previously out of reach," said Timo Toikkanen, executive vice president, Mobile Phones, Nokia. "There remains a huge segment of the global population that has yet to own a camera phone. For the next billion people and beyond, we aim to bring new mobile experiences to ever-lower price points, and the Nokia 108 and Nokia 108 Dual SIM are great examples of this commitment."
Both phones are ready just for 2G data, such as EDGE. Their 1.8-inch screens feature 16-bit (65.5K color). Yet there's a micro-SDHC slot, letting you drop in 32 GB of storage, a 3.5 mm headset jack, and an MP3 player, making the 108 one of the cheapest PMPs with color screens. The phone supports Bluetooth 3.0, letting you use wireless stereo headsets, as well. When plugged into a wired headset, it features FM radio. The battery offers 45 hours of music playback (beating Sony Walkman to it), 31 days of standby, and 13.8 hours of talk-time.
