After teasing us for weeks, Chinese phone maker Oppo have finally gone official with their new flagship camera centric Smartphone. Dubbed simply as the N1, this new entrant packs a gargantuan 5.9-inch display and a 13 megapixel Fujitsu CMOS sensor at the back. For those who are expecting the usual Snapdragon 800 treatment, get ready to be disappointed. The N1 will still be a screaming fast phone thanks to the 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ8064 chipset and Adreno 320 GPU, just that its scream won't be as loud as the new Snapdragon 800 packing champions.
The Oppo N1 has a beautiful 5.9-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display which boasts of a commendable 377 ppi pixel density. While not as high as on the Xperia Z1 and other flagships, it certainly doesn't prove to be a demerit to the screen in any way whatsoever.
Oppo has given the camera a little extra attention with the N1. There's a small strip of touch-sensitive area right below the camera module called the O-Touch, which behaves as a motion sensor (picking up your movements to control actions, such as changing the song). The O-Click on the other hand is a remote to control the phone's camera, which will prove to be extremely useful when you click group photographs. There's also dual-LED flash accompanying the rotating camera (yep, they are are back).
Let's talk about the camera. To all those who were never satisfied with a 2 MP, or 5 MP front facing camera, Oppo gives you the power to rotate the rear 13 MP camera and take your own snaps (there you go, problem solved). We can't confirm yet whether Samsung is considering a new Galaxy Rotate based on the Oppo N1's swivel mounted camera or not, but we can confirm that people are going to absolutely love this feature in the N1. And just for bragging, the N1's camera can be rotated for 7 years, at the rate of 40 times a day (talk about durability), and can turn 206 degrees (flexible much?).
Backed up by a large 3610 mAh battery and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, the Oppo N1 costs CNY 3498, which is roughly $575.
