According to a new report, Apple's dependency on Samsung will diminish, but not completely disappear even in 2014. The report says that Samsung will be called for producing about 30-40% of Apple's next-generation mobile SoC, the Apple A8 chipset next year. TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.) will handle the remainder of the production. Both companies will manufacture the Apple A8 SoC in their new 20nm manufacturing process. While this is no official statement, this report does fall in line with Apple's intentions of getting rid of Samsung and their newly struck deal with TSMC.
