Today is certainly a very exciting world for the technology community, in addition to being a major milestone in Smartphone development. Samsung has announced the world's first phone with a flexible display. Dubbed the Galaxy Round, the handset will go on sale in South Korea starting October 10th.
The Samsung Galaxy Round features a concave inward curved 5.7-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED display. It also features the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC clocked at 2.3 GHz, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of expandable storage, 13 MP rear and 2 MP front cameras and a large 2,800 mAh battery. Dimensionally, the device is 151.1 by 79.6 by 7.9mm and weighs 154g. The device runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box.
Samsung has described the curve of the screen to be the "roll effect", while the Gravity Effect allows people to switch songs by just tapping on either side of the display. Side Mirror allows you to tilt your phone and access different photos stored in your gallery.
Korean rival company LG is said to unveil their own Smartphone with a bent display in November. While the Galaxy Round is bent, it certainly isn't flexible. The Galaxy Round in luxury brown will set you back by 1,089,000 won which is roughly $1010 (well, you got to pay for the curves).
