Samsung might announce their next flagship Smartphone, the Galaxy S5, as early as January according to Korean media publications. The said media outlets cite their sources to be from inside Samsung, who have revealed the reason behind this speedup in the Galaxy S5 announcement.
One of the key reasons for preponing the Galaxy S5 release schedule is the disappointing sales of the 2013 flagship, the Galaxy S4. Rumored specifications include Samsung's own 64-bit Exynos 5 Octa SoC. Samsung has already acknowledged that they are indeed working on a 64-bit chipset, but the question is, will Google's Android 4.4 KitKat offer a 64-bit version as well?
Also, the camera in the Galaxy S5 is rumored to be Samsung's new 16 megapixel camera which allegedly packs enhanced low-light performance and OIS (optical image stability) as well.
If Samsung were to indeed announce the Galaxy S5 in January (most likely in MWC 2014), then the time delta between two flagship Smartphones from the Korean phone maker would be 10 months, which is very acceptable seeing that competitors like Sony are spewing out new flagships in every 6-7 months.
