MediaTek shipped over 65 million smartphone solutions, including its dual-core MT6572 and quad-core MT6589, to China in the third quarter of 2013, accounting for over 50% of market share in the segment, according to industry observers.

　　To maintain its shipment momentum, MediaTek plans to release its new quad-core MT6588 chips as well as 8-core MT6592 solution in the fourth quarter of 2013 before launching its first LTE-enabled chip, the MT6290, in the first quarter of 2014, revealed the sources.

　　Buoyed by the popularity of MediaTek's reference designs and roll-outs of new solutions, MediaTek is expected to see its market share further increase in the fourth quarter, commented the sources.
