In addition to the Lumia 1520, which is really the biggest takeaway from the Nokia World event the company held in Abu Dhabi this morning, is the Lumia 1320, the company's second 6-inch class phablet. Unlike the Lumia 1520, its focus is on functionality, rather than high-end bells and whistles.
The Lumia 1320 comes with a more subdued hardware feature-set underneath a gorgeous 164.25 x 85.9 x 9.79 mm body, which weighs 209 g. The design is a tad bit curvier than the Lumia 1520, and the body colors brighter. Color options include deep orange, lemon yellow, white, and black.
The Lumia 1320 features a 6-inch IPS LCD screen with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution, compared to the full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) screen on the Lumia 1520. It should still translate into a decent pixel density by phablet standards, and should certainly look better than the overgrown Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3. The device supports both 4G LTE and HSPA+ connectivity.
Imaging hardware isn't the 1320's strong point, it features a measly 5-megapixel primary camera with LED flash on the back, and a 1.3-megapixel front-facer. The two are still tied to the Nokia Camera app, although we're not sure if the manual-focus mojo is part of the package.
Under the hood, the Lumia 1320 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC, which combines a dual-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 1.70 GHz, with Adreno 330 graphics. The SoC is wired to 1 GB of RAM. 8 GB of internal storage is on offer, although it's expandable with micro-SDHC. A gargantuan 3,400 mAh battery keeps the device fed. The Lumia 1320 features the same Windows Phone 8 GDR3 implementation as the Lumia 1520, with its new four-column tile screen, Nokia Camera app, and Nokia Storyteller app.
The Lumia 1320 is expected to hit the shelves at US $329.99 (excl. taxes).
