Nokia's interim report for Q3 2013 has revealed green future (with respect to bank balance) for the Finnish company. Thanks to some seriously high demand in the US, Nokia sold as many as 8.8 million Lumia Smartphones in Q3 2013, far more than any of us had anticipated. In achieving this feat, Nokia spent a lot of money on advertising, but as it turns out, it was all worth. The sales in North America went up by 400%, from 0.3 million in Q3 2012 to 1.4 million this year. This can be attributed to the introduction of Windows Phone 8, as well as a ton of Lumia branded devices which pretty much cover the entire spectrum (low-end, mid-range, high-end and camera super-phones).
Despite a drop in revenue to the tune of 22% (when compared to last year), Nokia managed to pull in 118 million in operating profits. Perhaps it will perform even better in the future, now that the company is under Microsoft's leadership. |
