PC brand vendors such as Acer, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Lenovo and Asustek Computer have all been aggressively releasing new convertible products in 2013, aiming to boost overall consumer demand.
Acer has released its new Android all-in-one PCs in Taiwan and expects the new devices to help the company become the largest all-in-one PC vendor in Taiwan in the first half of 2014.
HP has also released its new 2-in-1 notebook, the Split13x2 in Taiwan, featuring a 13-inch display and Windows operating system. With its specially designed hinge, the device can be detached and become a tablet.
The Split13x2's tablet features a 128GB of solid state drive (SSD), while the keyboard docking station is equipped with a 500GB hard disk drive (HDD). The 2-in-1 notebook is priced at NT$44,900 (US$1,528).
Compared to tablet's annual shipment growth of 35-40%, HP expects 2-in-1 device shipment growth to reach 400% in 2014 and therefore will focus on pushing related products to expand its market share.
Lenovo has recently unveiled its Yoga Tablets, featuring an 8- or 10-inch display, MediaTek's MT8125 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of memory and 16GB of storage. The new Yoga tablets will feature a design similar to their predecessors and are able to fold in many different angles for different purposes.
