When Apple announced the iPad mini with Retina display alongside the iPad Air, it didn't have an official shipping date to give, except an abstract "late-November, 2013." It turns out that date is the 21st of November.
The November 21 launch puts it just one week ahead of Thanksgiving in the US, in turn 8 days ahead of Black Friday, a crucial date for shopping in the US. Given that Apple CEO admitted that his company won't have enough inventory to last the entire winter shopping season, we doubt the Retina-equipped iPad mini will even make it past Thanksgiving.
The iPad mini Retina is more than just a variant of the popular 7.9-incher from Apple that features a high-resolution 2048 x 1536-pixel screen. It also features faster hardware, such as Apple's A7 SoC, and M7 motion processor; and comes with iOS 7 loaded out of the box. It starts at $399.99 for the 16 GB variant. |
