While Sony has been consistently doing well in the past couple of quarters, slowly clawing their way back to their former glory days, their journey has been hit by a tiny snag, a condition called "loss." Sony Mobile managed to sell 10 million Xperia Smartphones, a marked increase over 9.6 million in Q1 2013 and 8.8 million for the same period a year ago. Sales were up 39.3%, and the mobile division posted a los of $9 million on an operating income of $2.25 billion.
Sony's game division increased its sales by 5.1%, but ended with $8 million in red, thanks to price cuts made to the PS Vita and sliding sales of the PS2 and PS3. Home Entertainment & Sound has increased their revenues by 11%, while Imaging Products & Solutions is down -6.9% in sales. As it turns out, Sony Music and the company's Financial Services were the best performers, bringing in $99 million and $400 million respectively.
