Pegatron Technology saw its communication-related product businesses contribute 42% of its revenues in the third quarter, while the PC-related product businesses contributed 31% and the consumer product businesses including LCD TV and game console, provided 27%, according to the company.
Pegatron's revenues from the communication-related product businesses enjoyed close to 90% growth sequentially in the third quarter, which some market watchers believe was mainly due to the company's strong iPhone shipments. Pegatron's revenues from the consumer product businesses also had a sequential growth close to 20% in the third quarter, but revenues from the PC-related product businesses suffered a decline of about 20%.
Commenting on the company's poor performance in the PC product businesses, Pegatron CEO Jason Cheng pointed out that the company will focus on pushing its PC-related products in the future, especially all-in-one PCs. In addition to existing orders from Asustek Computer, Pegatron has also recently landed all-in-one PC orders from Hewlett-Packard (HP).
Cheng said that Pegatron has already been developing products such as Chromebooks and Windows 8.1-based mobile devices, hoping these products to help boost its PC-related product businesses in 2014. In the future, Cheng is aiming to keep the revenue contributions from the company's three major product sections stable at around 30% each.
As for wearable devices, Pegatron is internally developing many projects, but expects such a product line to only have weak contribution before 2015 because the related market ecosystem has not yet been fully established.
In the fourth quarter, Pegatron expects both its PC and non-PC products to enjoy shipment growth at around 0-10%, while revenues will grow 5-10% sequentially.
Commenting on recent market rumors that Apple is separating its orders to multiple ODMs, Cheng said that he is confident about the company's ability to achieve clients' demand and therefore, is not concerned about such rumors. |
