Lenovo is putting in increased tablet component orders to upstream makers that are expected to remain steady throughout the fourth quarter of 2013.
Makers such as Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT), AU Optronics (AUO) and O-Film are some of the panel and touch panel makers that have seen orders increase from Lenovo throughout October largely for 8-inch panels used in Lenovo tablets to be released in the fourth quarter.
Lenovo reportedly hopes to push its presence further in the tablet market as the market continues to grow and as the company's focus is now on ultra-mobile devices amid a weak notebook market.
The company is also aiming to extend its influence in the China market with high-end tablet products in addition to entry-level and mid-range units, and is gearing up for increased demand in markets outside of China that is expected to emerge through the end of 2013.
Digitimes Research meanwhile said that global tablet shipments are expected to reach 289 million units in 2014, up 23.6% on year.
