Flat screen TV sales in Japan dropped 3% to 370,000 units in October 2013, according to the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA).
Of the shipments, TVs sized below 29-inch reached 97,000 units while 30- to 36-inch units reached 130,000. Shipments of 37-inch and above TVs, including Ultra HD TVs, saw shipments increase 22.5% to 152,000 units, said JEITA.
JEITA also said 3D TV shipments dropped 11.5% on year while connected TVs dropped 0.4%.
Digitimes Research meanwhile said that Sony's TV shipments are expected to reach 14.5 million units in 2013 while Sharp is expected to report eight million. |
