Overall tablet sales in the fourth quarter are expected to grow 20% sequentially to reach around 60 million units as brand vendors such as Nokia, LG Electronics, Toshiba and Google are aggressively releasing new models.
Nokia recently release its Lumia 2520 tablet, featuring Windows operating system and is cooperating with AT&T for telecom service bundling. The device is priced at US$499.
Toshiba has released three new 8-inch Dynabook Tab tablets, also featuring Windows 8.1. The devices adopt Intel's Atom Z3740 processor and have a battery life of 11 hours.
LG will release a quad-core tablet, the G Tablet 8.3 on November 25 in Taiwan, priced below NT$10,000 (US$338). In addition, LG is also the manufacturer of Google's second-generation Nexus 10, which is expected to feature Android 4.4 and an IPS panel with resolution of 2560 by 1600. The 10-inch device will be priced at US$400 and be released shortly, market watchers revealed.
Apple's iPad shipments are expected to reach 20 million units in the fourth quarter, up six million units from the third, while Samsung's tablet shipments are expected to grow from 9.7 million units in the third quarter to over 10 million in the fourth. |
