Apple originally intended for the iPhone 5C to cause stampedes in China over its "affordable" prices and bleed-through body color options, but it didn't click as well as Apple had hoped for, even forcing it at one point to scale down its production, and allocate more OEM space for the iPhone 5S. It turns out that the 5C is a roaring success on the other side of the Himalayas, where it's outselling even the Galaxy S4.
Sources tell The Indian Express that the iPhone 5C is outselling the Galaxy S4 across multi-brand retail outlets. Apple's secret of success is its "buyback" scheme, that lets you trade in your old iPhone or other smartphone, for discounts as deep as $200. That, and an aggressive TV and print-media campaign that Apple undertook in recent weeks. |
