DRAM maker Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC) saw its April revenues increase 10% from March, while peer Nanya Technology posted a 1% revenue drop sequentially in the same month. PSC has said rising shipments in April were mainly buoyed by capacity support from Rexchip Electronics, its joint venture with Elpida Memory.
PSC registered revenues of NT$7.53 billion in April 2010, the highest since March 2007. Eric Tang, spokesperson for PSC, noted that the company has begun to source from Rexchip's 12-inch capacity based upon its holdings in the joint venture, allowing it to grow shipments substantially.
Tang also indicated that PSC enjoyed growth in its foundry business last month, in terms of both sales volume and prices.
Nanya has announced net sales of NT$5.22 billion for April 2010, down 1% on month but up 97% on year. Inotera Memories generated revenues of NT$4.26 billion in April, growing slightly from NT$4.14 billion in the prior month and 78.4% compared to a year earlier.
Market sources believe Nanya and Inotera are likely to see their bit shipments grow significantly in the third quarter, as both progress to 50nm process technology.
ProMOS Technologies has reported revenues of NT$2.23 billion for April 2010, its best monthly results since September 2008. April also marked the fourth month in a row to see annual growth.
ProMOS was quoted in previous reports saying it stands a good chance of making a turnaround in the second quarter of 2010. The company swung to net losses in the second quarter of 2007, and has remained unprofitable since.
